The banking industry is currently going through a lot of changes, as the customer preferences and demands transform. Our project aims to determine the expectations of new generations of customers and adapt our partner Deutsche Bank’s offerings accordingly.
Consumers’ awareness of the importance of sustainability has drastically affected their purchasing behavior. When choosing a new product or a service, sustainability has become one of the deciding factors, especially for the younger generation.
Banks provide customers with different products and services at every stage of their lives. From financing the education, to buying their own house, to planning the retirement. They need to adapt their offerings to the preferences and expectations of the new generation to retain market leadership and grow their customer base.
But how? In collaboration with Deutsche Bank, Futury has defined nine fields of innovation, in which customers reach out to banks’ services:
Together with Deutsche Bank, Futury has defined these 9 fields of innovation. Deutsche Bank offers services in each of these fields. As sustainability becomes a deciding factor for many consumers, especially for the younger generation, new services must be developed to meet their demands. We are therefore seeking innovative business models with Deutsche Bank and other partners, that focus on sustainability.
Do you have a new business idea that makes banking more sustainable in one of these fields?
Banks have a clear impact on education – one of the building blocks of modern society.
They give us, for instance, the opportunity to take on student loans to finance our entire education. But also - a creativity summer school, a semester abroad or an online programming course. In the modern world, the education process doesn’t stop at a certain age. It's a life-long process of obtaining new skills, training for new jobs and discovering new things.
Some banks act as educators too, offering financial education programs.
Have ideas on how to integrate sustainability in the bank offerings for students and those interested in further education? Apply with your idea now.
Paying for taxi rides with cash? In 2020?
Nowadays we take online payment, as well as other services like miles collection, bonus points & benefits for any kind of transportation as a given. Banks profit from this kind of cooperation and attract new customers with that. However, mobility trends are changing. We take our ecological footprint more and more into account when choosing how to get from A to B. The old approaches are becoming less relevant and banks need to adjust to the new customer preferences.
Have ideas on how to integrate sustainability in the bank offerings for this living world? Apply now with your idea.
The tools we rely upon to communicate today were only science fiction some fifty years ago.

Shopping has never been as easy as today.
We can have anything delivered to our door within days or even hours, from anywhere in the world. But consumerism has become a guilty pleasure for many of us since we now understand the real costs and consequences of our care-free shopping.
Transportation and packaging are a growing concern. That is why sustainable fashion, for example, grows steadily among young shoppers.
Banks possess information about our payments and thereby understand our consumer behavior. They can use their power to incentivize sustainable consumption. But how? Have Ideas? Apply now!
We all need a place to call our home.
But in the broader sense, the concept of living is not just about ownership or rent, but also about the choice between privacy and a community feeling, the relationship between family and work, and of personal freedom and collective security.
We are talking about housing concepts that are in line with demographic trends, one of which is ultimately the desire of people to live a sustainable life.

We want to travel more sustainably.
During our trips, we make a lot of financial decisions that influence our environmental footprint. Banks have the opportunity to become the central component of sustainable travel by offering services that enable environmentally friendly travel.
Some of the competitors already offer travel-oriented services like free withdrawals abroad and travel insurance. However, for the young generation, sustainable travel solutions will be the most important ones when choosing a bank to travel with. What niche can Deutsche Bank define for itself to address these needs of the new generation? Have ideas? Apply now!
What we eat and where our food comes from is extremely important for us. And we have what to choose from - seasonal, regional, vegetarian, vegan - the list goes on. Moreover, we have so many options for how to organize our meals – we can go out, we can order in, we can cook ourselves with the ingredients we buy from the supermarket or our community garden. Often or not, the willingness to reduce our ecological footprint plays a big role in making all these decisions.

helping people. So how can the professional and private everyday life of health professionals be optimally relieved so that they can concentrate fully on the people?
Or are there services that can be offered to patients in order to create added value for them? The aim of the project Banking-be green is to find creative and innovative solutions that banks can offer in this area.
