Our seventh innovation program “Transformation – Be Sustainable!” is up and running with the aim to discover, design and build innovative solutions for corporate transformation towards sustainability. For the next three months, our three innovation teams will work together with selected corporate partners to develop concrete prototypes and on stage of the 32nd EBS Symposium, they presented their start-draft ideas – just yesterday at our official Kick-OffPitch.

Welcoming our audience on-site and online was Jannis Röthemeier (Program Director of ‘The Mission: Transformation – Be Sustainable!’) with a short recap of our flagship program ‘The Mission’ – an initiative launched by Futury, Deutsche Bank, Bain & Company, Handelsblatt Media Group and PreZero to inspire, match and enable entrepreneurial talents and market leaders to innovate together. Since its foundation in 2019, ‘The Mission’ brought together 54 corporate partners and 115 young talents to develop sustainable solutions forthe waste, banking, sports, work, mobility, and energy sector while putting forth 8 startups, 5 startups-to-be-founded, 12 employments and 2 registeredpatents. With the current program, we aim for cross-sector solutions to bridge between industries and initiate an encompassing transformation.

An encompassing transformation towards sustainability requires companies to move from action to impact, which Dr. Tobias Raffel,Managing Director at the Werte-Stiftung, talks about during his keynote speech about “Sustainability Needs of Corporates”. Sourcing from his extensive research, he shares five observations from his interviews with German top managers and uncovers five challenges to overcome: knowing the footprint alongthe value chain, managing stakeholders, balance trade-offs, develop sustainable solutions and win over peoples’ hearts. To help companies to move from attitude to action to impact, we want to provide them with inspiration, education, and activation and this is where our innovation teams take over.

Prior to the pitches, we could also welcome Astrid Teckentrup (Chairwoman of theBoard at Procter & Gamble) and Jörg Eigendorf (Global Head of Communications, CSR and Sustainability) remotely and Walter Sinn (Managing Partner and Member of the Board at Bain & Company) and Dr. Tobias Raffel on stage for a top-notch panel discussion. Talking about their ‘Road to COP 26’, the panelists discussed the industry’s approach to sustainable transformation and gave a sneak-peak into their preparations for and expectations of the 26th Conference of all Parties.

At COP 26, morethan 190 world leaders will meet in Glasgow to reach agreements on how to tackle climate change, and the entire world will hold its breath. In the meantime, our three innovation teams will do their part to find innovative solutions that we, at Futury, aim to realize together with our network.

Our first team is dedicated to inspiration, guidingcorporations through the process of closing the gap between ambition and action: Sustainacy is a platform that assesses employees’ sustainability readiness, provides targeted actionable insights, and recommends the path forward on the individual sustainability journey. By combining psychology traits, creating the right incentives, and providing a concrete action plan, Selina, Paula and Oriana aim to accelerate corporates’ sustainable journey towards success.

Our second team focuses on education, providing employees with relevant knowledge and skills about sustainability: resolvert is a gamified business simulation that empowers employees to learn about sustainability, incorporate sustainability into the decision making, and implement sustainable decisions in their daily business. By increasing the knowledge and awareness of sustainability among employees, Florent, Verena and Matthias aim to close the gap between the intention and the implementation of sustainable actions.

Our third team is dedicated to activation, providing investors with relevant informationon startups’ sustainability for potential invests as well as startups themselves with the opportunity to stick out: Greenvest is a digital platform to screen startups ESG data and ESG ranking with individual investors requirements, including portfolio analysis and benchmarking. By evaluating the startups’ sustainability, Julius, Donatus and Suren aim to help investors to screen the market for the right startup and manage their venture portfolio based on ESG goals.

Moving forward,our teams will work in daily sprints on market research, user research, user testing, business modelling and prototyping to turn their ideas into practice. Together with our corporate partners and our teams, we redesign today’s approaches and break new grounds for the corporate transformation towards sustainability.
